Liz “Lizard” Barrett, Broker/Owner of Lizard Realty, opened her own real estate firm in February 2004. Lizard Realty specializes in beach area & beach adjacent areas (Largo/Seminole) sales and property management (vacation and annual rentals).
Active in the real estate industry since 1994, Liz began her successful career in an administrative capacity eventually overseeing five Pinellas county offices with over 120 agents. In 1999, Liz earned her real estate license and started selling immediately. After being loyal to a local family owned Real Estate Company for over ten years, Liz attained her Broker’s license and start her own company. Currently Liz operates with just two part-time Assistants.
A resident of Pinellas County since 1975, Liz was raised in Dunedin. She received her Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1992. From 1994 for ten years Liz resided in Indian Rocks Beach then moved south to adjacent Indian Shores in 2004 for warmer weather. Active in the community, Liz is a founding Charter Board of Director member for Indian Rocks Beach Action 2000, a non-profit organization dedicated to beautification and preservation Indian Rocks Beach started in 1999. She also is a member of the National Association of Realtors(NAR), Florida Association of Realtors(FAR) and the Pinellas Realtor Organization (PRO).
Being an active Realtor, Liz is committed the importance of continuing education, keeping up to date on the industry’s ever changing laws and strictly adhering to the Realtor’s Code of Ethics. Some of the continuing education classes she has completed are Realtors Ethics Class, Broker 60 Hour Post Licensing Course (GRI, Graduate of Realtor Institute 2 & 3 Courses), PRO’s ‘Market in Motion’.
In 2001 Liz acquired some beach property in Indian Shores. With no prior rental history, she took four run down beach cottages and after remodeling, major redecorating, refurnishing, designing a website, extensive marketing, managing the rentals made them a success. “Many of my clients are interested in buying beach property as a second home and then renting it when they are not using it. Due to my hands-on experience in the vacation property industry I can help them with honest advice directly from my own experience in that industry. In her spare time, Liz enjoys biking, sailing, kayaking, snow skiing, gardening. She volunteers at Pinellas County Animal Services Shelter in Largo. She has 3 rescue pups. Also she volunteers with Neighborly services doing "Meals on Wheels" for shut in seniors. St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Humane Society and Samaritan's Purse are non profit organizations strongly supported as well as donating time at vacation rentals to the recovering Veterans at the local VA hospitals.
